Villena and five neighbours
Locksmith in the Alto Vinalopó: six towns from 473 to 697 metres
Every barrio and every pedanía of Villena, and the five other towns of the comarca we cover: Sax, Biar, Beneixama, Cañada and Camp de Mirra.
Salinas, Caudete, Yecla and Banyeres are not covered from here.
Villena, in four parts
Name the part of town you are in and the detail in the last line of each block: it is what gets us to the right door first time.
-
The old town under the castle
Casco histórico · Plaza de Santiago · Calle Mayor · El Rabal
A protected historic ensemble since 1968, wrapped round the Atalaya castle on a spur of the Sierra de la Villa. Palace houses with wrought-iron balconies around Calle Mayor and the Plaza de Santiago; in El Rabal, hillside houses from several centuries, some cut back into the limestone.
Name the square or the church nearest to you. Some of these streets are steep and narrow, and the last few metres may be walked.
-
The barrios around it
San Francisco · Las Cruces · La Paz · San Antón · El Grec · El Carril · El Mercado · Banda de Música · Paseo Chapí · La Morenica · Bulevar Maestro Carrascosa
Flats and town houses of every decade. The San Francisco estate went up in 1961; La Morenica and the Bulevar Maestro Carrascosa are the newest growth.
Give the block or staircase and the floor. In a block the street door and your own door are two different locks.
-
The industrial estates
El Rubial · Bulilla
El Rubial covers 500,000 m² and holds more than 190 firms, most of them in children’s footwear and services.
Say the street and plot number of the unit, and whether the alarm company has been told someone is coming.
-
The pedanías
Las Virtudes · La Encina · Santa Eulalia · Casas de Menor · Casas de Cabanes · Casas de Jordán · Cascante · El Morrón · Las Chozas · La Gloria · La Puentecilla · Las Tiesas · La Zafra · San Bernabé · Sierra de Salinas
Fifteen settlements outside the town, from Las Virtudes, about 5 km out around its sanctuary, to La Encina, 18 km away by the borders of Valencia and Albacete and the only pure railway village in the Valencian Community.
Send your location on WhatsApp. Out here a pin is worth more than a street name.
The five other towns
-
Sax
473 m · 10,346 residents (2025)
Between Villena and Elda, under a castle set on a bare rock. The medieval streets climb the hillside; the town makes footwear and, above all, roller blinds.
-
Biar
697 m · 3,677 residents (2025)
At 697 m, the highest of the six towns we cover. Narrow, steep streets run up to a thirteenth-century castle, and a snow well of the eighteenth century sits above the town.
-
Beneixama
592 m · 1,696 residents (2025) · also Benejama
Between Villena and Biar, with olives, vines and almonds on the slopes and a twin-towered church of 1841.
-
Cañada
558 m · 1,213 residents (2025)
On the western side of the Biar valley, among olives, vineyards and fruit trees, known for its Auto de los Reyes at Epiphany.
-
Camp de Mirra
590 m · 447 residents (2025) · also Campo de Mirra
The smallest of the six, where the Treaty of Almizra was signed in 1244 and is acted out again every 25 August.
How high, how cold
- Sax 473 m · 10,346 people
- Villena 526 m · 34,712 people
- Cañada 558 m · 1,213 people
- Camp de Mirra 590 m · 447 people
- Beneixama 592 m · 1,696 people
- Biar 697 m · 3,677 people
Height above sea level, which in this comarca decides how hard the winter is on an outdoor lock. Villena is in orange.
Everything we do, in all six towns
The same services reach every town on this page. Night call-outs, door opening and locked cars are handled at any hour; the rest is booked.
- Emergency line day or night Shut out on a January night, a key that broke in the street door, keys gone somewhere between the castle and the car: the phone is picked up at any hour.
- Opening doors homes of every age Tall old doors in the historic centre, armoured doors in newer flats and the heavy entrance of a house in the campo, opened through the lock when the lock allows it.
- Locks & cylinders planned work Cylinders swapped for snap-resistant ones, worn locks repaired, and doors that have dropped out of line after a hard winter set to close properly again.
- Locked car opening only Keys locked inside the car in town, at a stop off the A-31 or in the car park of the high-speed station: the door is opened and nothing else is done.
- Campo houses & farm stores pedanías and valley Casas de campo shut for the winter, farm stores, padlocked sheds and the locks on drive gates, from La Encina to the Biar valley.
- Shops, offices & units any business door Shop doors, office locks and the doors of units on El Rubial and Bulilla, opened or changed around the hours you work.
- After a break-in secure, then upgrade A forced door made to lock the same day, and a stronger set-up once the report to the police and the insurer is under way.
- Safes homes and firms Safes whose code has gone, whose key is lost or whose owner is no longer here, opened once ownership is clear; new safes fitted too.
